Seborrheic dermatitis, beware of dandruff

You constantly a white layer that covers all your shoulders and back, and do not know what to do.

Most likely you are suffering what doctors called Seborrheic Dermatitis. This is a disease that causes flaking of the skin, especially in the area of the scalp, but can affect other areas.

It is very common in babies under three months and in adults between 30 and 60 years of age. May be due to hormonal reasons, however, also be caused by a fungus called Malassezia, which we have in the whole body in normal amounts but which sometimes proliferate causing problems in your skin.

To treat seborrheic dermatitis, commonly known as dandruff, use a shampoo containing zinc pyrithione, salicylic acid or selenium sulfide. I recommend Selsun Blue, or Neutrogena T Gel, shampoos made to combat the dreaded dandruff. Use it daily until the dandruff disappears and then three times a week, other days you can use a shampoo for normal hair. When you apply the shampoo, let it act for 5 minutes, then goes on to rinse.

For infants, the pediatrician will be best placed to say what care should be followed to remove your baby's seborrheic dermatitis.

Seborrheic dermatitis may be causing many bad times, if you are suffering from long time, you better go to a specialist, the dermatologist will be the best person to prescribe the best treatment.
