My dear friends . . .
As most of you know, we moved to this old 1898 farmhouse in May. It had stood empty for over a year and prior to that had been lived in by a man whose top priority, it appears, was having good sound for his stereo and TV. We couldn’t believe how many wall mounted speaker stands there were in there. I removed them almost instantly! While I too enjoy music, I don’t want it to be visual focal point in my decorating.
So over the last 8 months since moving in, we have painted, scrubbed, de-moused and de-voled the place (I didn’t even know what a vole was prior to farm life! It is basically a cross between a mouse and a mole . . . basically a pointy nosed mouse.) While we still have a long ways to go, it is already such a blessing to us, waking up to the beautiful prairie views each morning. Here is a peek at some of the things in my home. At this point, no room is done completely, so I can’t take photos of full room views. I did take one of the dining room, but it is still in need of new flooring and molding.
